Our Story

Cincinnati Treasure Hunt, CTH for short, is the brainchild of Prof Arthur Hunt III, grandson of famed Egyptologist Arthur S. Hunt. A retired professor of literature and amateur archaeologist, he splits his time at his family home in England with lengthy stays with his niece and her children who reside in the Cincinnati community of Indian Hill and considers Cincinnati his “American” hometown.

Cincinnati Treasure Hunt was inspired by a visit 5 years ago to the Cincinnati Art Museum by the professor when he observed mothers and fathers taking their children through the museum “strolling about with half open glazed eyes like they were in the aisles of a grocery store shopping for a can of hash!”. Determined to bring The Cincinnati Art Museum to life for both children as well as adults and being a life long lover of history, mystery, and adventure he set about to write a “treasure hunt” for his niece’s children. That first hunt was entitled, “The Quest for the Secret Chamber at the Art Museum”. An updated version is available as one of our hunts now. Five more were to follow and they began to be shared among his niece’s friends and others.

Cincinnatitreasurehunt.com came to be in late 2014 at the urging of Prof. Hunt’s nephew Aaron who thought other families would enjoy the playful fun and challenge of his uncle’s creations.
